Before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, opposition parties are attempting to come together and unite against the ruling BJP. They have accused the central investigative agencies, such as the ED and CBI, of being misused by the government. The Aam Aadmi Party has taken the lead in organizing a meeting in Delhi, which will be attended by non-BJP Chief Ministers. Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee may also attend.
This move follows a letter written by nine opposition leaders to Prime Minister Modi expressing concerns over the misuse of these agencies. The Congress, however, has stated that they have nothing to fear and will answer any questions posed by the agencies.
The non-BJP Chief Ministers plan to hold a meeting in Delhi later this month to discuss the misuse of these agencies. Dilip Ghosh, a BJP leader from Bengal, has hinted that more people will be arrested in the coming days.
The meeting, which is being organized by the Aam Aadmi Party, is expected to be attended by nine parties, including the Trinamool, RJD, and NCP. Mamata Banerjee may attend the meeting, which will take place during the second phase of the budget session later this month. In a recent letter to the Prime Minister, opposition leaders accused the central investigative agencies of being misused. They also protested against the arrest of Manish Sisodia and alleged that the agencies had closed probes against leaders who joined the BJP, such as Shubhendu Adhikari and Himanta Biswa Sharma.
The recent raids by the ED on Lalu Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav in Bihar and the arrests of TMC leaders in Bengal have sparked concerns among opposition parties. They have now started the process of uniting against the misuse of these agencies.
